Clinician-supervised weight management including access to TGA-registered GLP-1 medicines β prescribed and monitored by Australian doctors.
Weight management medicine has been transformed by the GLP-1 receptor agonist class. These medicines work by mimicking hormones that regulate appetite and glucose metabolism, producing significant and sustained weight loss that was previously only achievable through bariatric surgery.
Natura.Healthcare prescribes TGA-registered medicines only in this program β specifically Mounjaro (tirzepatide) where clinically appropriate. We do not prescribe compounded versions of GLP-1 medicines, consistent with TGA guidance and to ensure product quality and safety.
This program includes ongoing clinical supervision, dose titration, and monitoring throughout your treatment β not just a prescription and a farewell.
Tirzepatide (Mounjaro) is a dual GIP (glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide) and GLP-1 receptor agonist registered by the TGA. It was initially approved for Type 2 Diabetes and has since received approval for weight management. It is the most effective weight loss medicine currently available β SURMOUNT clinical trials showed mean weight loss of 20β22% of body weight at 72 weeks.
Tirzepatide works by activating both the GLP-1 and GIP receptors simultaneously, reducing appetite, slowing gastric emptying, improving insulin sensitivity, and promoting fat metabolism. It is a weekly subcutaneous injection, titrated gradually over 4β20 weeks to reduce gastrointestinal side effects.
β οΈ Important: We prescribe the registered Mounjaro product only β not compounded tirzepatide. Compounded GLP-1 analogues carry quality and safety risks not present with TGA-approved medicines.
Initial dose commenced. Appetite suppression typically begins within days. Some GI side effects (nausea, constipation) are common early on β these diminish with dose stabilisation.
Dose is gradually increased (2.5mg β 5mg β 7.5mg β 10mg β 12.5mg β 15mg) over 20 weeks. Your doctor supervises titration based on tolerance and response.
Meaningful weight loss is well established by this point for most patients. Lifestyle changes are essential to maximise and sustain results.
Most weight loss occurs in the first 12β18 months. Ongoing clinical supervision determines whether to continue, reduce dose, or transition to maintenance.
Common side effects: nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting, and constipation β particularly during dose titration. These typically resolve as the body adapts. Serious adverse events are rare but reviewed as part of ongoing monitoring.
Check your eligibility and speak with a Natura doctor about whether Mounjaro is right for you.
